About Us

Building smiles. Changing lives.

Filling the Gap was born from a simple but powerful idea shared between friends over coffee: to help address the critical shortage of dental care. What started as a grassroots initiative quickly grew into a meaningful movement.

Inspired by an earlier program of the same name (2006–2016), we were honoured to be entrusted with continuing its legacy. We discovered a network of compassionate, skilled dentists willing to step away from their busy practices to volunteer their time and expertise.

Today, Filling the Gap serves as a vital link between volunteer dental professionals and disadvantaged members of the community, helping to deliver consistent, high-quality dental care to communities in need. Together, we’re bridging the oral health divide — one smile at a time.

It is professionally liberating, and the bonus is the outcome for the patient. Also I see it as a way of providing a positive message to patients who are new to our country, who may be very socially anxious and uncertain, and isolated by language, or traumatised by life experiences, that they are cared for and valued.
